We are disappointed and saddened to tell all of you that “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” is going to be impossible to perform this summer. To answer any questions you have, we have put together this FAQ page for your convenience. We apologize, and are deeply sorry, to anybody looking forward to watching or being a part of this show.
Q) Why is the show impossible to perform?
A) There are a number of reasons, but the most important by far is money. The Company does have some money saved from the previous show, and we were able to make a bit more through fundraisers. However, unlike last year, we had no theater to perform in. This represented a significant cost, even if we just wanted to rent a space in a park to perform. To put on a show we are going to need to do more fundraising if we want to succeed.
Q) Is there anything else?
A) The other problem we had was finding a rehearsal space. With some squeezing we MIGHT have been able to rent a performance space outdoors. But not only was this far from certain (indeed, it was and remains unlikely), we had another problem: No rehearsal space. The space we used last year was far too inconvenient for our production staff to use again, and the one other space we had been counting on fell through. The only other option was to rehearse outdoors, but this posed so many problems that we decided it would be too difficult to make work. Time constraints were also a major factor in our decision not to perform.
Q) Are you done with “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”?
A) Not necessarily. The show is still on the table at the present, and could possibly be performed next summer. We intend to offer the position of director to Steph again if we do decide to do the show.
Q) Do you have anything else in the works?
A) Right now, we’re considering doing a cabaret for this summer. As soon we have any updates on this we will post it on our website and on the Bold Choice Facebook page.
We are also working on something completely different as a background project, and we promise that absolutely NONE of you will expect it. We, however, are very excited about this idea, and we hope that all of you will be too once we reveal it!
We would like to apologize again for announcing our show prematurely and then being forced to cancel it. This is something we are not proud of, and we assure you it will not happen in the future.
Thank you all for your support and understanding,
– Anthony and Brian, Co-Chairmen
